About Me

For as long as I can remember, there have been few things that I love more than books. When I was a kid, we had a library a few blocks from my house. I would take my backpack, hop on my bike, and spend hours stocking up on Nancy Drew and Little House on the Prairie. My mom used to call me Belle, because she'd catch me walking home from school with my nose in a book not even watching where I was walking.
After spending three years studying Elementary Education, I realized that my heart wasn't in it. I stepped back and tried to figure out what it is that makes me happy. What it is I could see myself doing for the rest of my life. And then it occurred to me: books.
I'm not sure why the thought never dawned on me sooner, but as I start my second year as a journalism major I am positive that I am exactly where I want to be. For me, books are so much more than stories on paper. They are people, they are experiences, they are lives.
I love opening a new book and seeing the pages get worn as I make my way through it. I love the smell of a new book, almost as much as I love the smell of an old one. I need to hold a book in my hands as the words and the story become a part of who I am.
If you are on this page, you probably know exactly what I'm talking about. I want to bring those feelings out. I want to find the books that desperately need to be read and felt and appreciated. And maybe along the way I will discover the ones that desperately need to remain closed.
My opinions on these books are just that. They are my opinions, and I don't expect anyone to constantly agree with me. But maybe I can find a book that you may not have ever discovered, and it ends up being one that stays with you all your life.
